Rock Cycle Pre-Assessment

Rock Cycle Pre-Assessment

This will be used to determine your current level of understanding about the processes that lead to the formation of the various types of rocks and the role of density during those processes. This is a pre-assessment, which means this is just for me to see how much you know at this point. It will not be counted as a grade so do not be afraid to make a mistake. Please be sure to anser all questions to the best of your abilities.

Part 1: Density

The following description and picture will be used to answer questions 1-4: A straight uniform board is cut into three different sizes. Each piece has identical width and thickness, but different lengths. A is the shortest and C is the longest.

Part 2: Rock Cycle

Using a separate sheet of paper, illustrate the rock cycle by drawing a flow chart of the rock cycle. Be sure to include: - all major rock groups - at least 3 processes leading to rock formation working within that cycle - the role of desnity in each portion of the rock cyle Be as complete as possible. If you are unsure about any of the component, make your best educated guess.
